The two central grooves of the NS-2, along with the V-shaped tread of the tyre, improve the drainage of water on the tyre surface and hence reduce the risk aquaplaning.
When dry, the V-shaped tread ribs ensure a uniform pressure distribution so that the entire contact surface of the tyre can be used for power transmission.
Computer simulated V-shaped drainage sub-grooves increase resistance to hydroplaning at high speed running through deep water.
Two-in-one pitches and variable width tread profile help to reduce pattern noise and provide a quieter comfort.
Shoulder edge sipes ensure even and prolonged tread wear.
EU Tyre Label and Efficiency Classes
The European Union has introduced the EU Tyre Label by Regulation (No. 1222/2009) identically and bindingly for all EU member states. It applies to passenger car tyres, light commercial vehicle tyres and heavy commercial vehicle tyres produced after 01.07.2012.
Three different areas are tested: rolling resistance, wet grip and the rolling noise the tyre makes on the road.
The following are not affected by the EU Tyre Label: retreaded tyres, professional off-road tyres, racing tyres, tyres with additional devices to improve traction such as spiked tyres, T-type emergency tyres, special tyres for fitting to vehicles first registered before 1 October 1990, tyres with a maximum authorised speed of 80 km/h, tyres for rims with a nominal diameter of 254 mm or less or 635 mm or more.
With this regulation, the European Union is pursuing the goal of promoting economic and ecological efficiency in road traffic as well as increasing road safety on the one hand, and on the other hand, granting consumers more product transparency and at the same time serving as an active decision-making aid.
Already during the incorporation, experts criticise the fact that the EU Tyre Label unfortunately only shows a few product characteristics. Apart from rolling resistance, wet grip and rolling noise, which are the main focus of EU tyre labelling, tyres have much more important and safety-relevant product characteristics, such as aquaplaning properties, driving stability, service life, braking properties on dry and wet roads, behaviour in wintry conditions, etc.
Tyre manufacturers point out that test results from various institutions and journals remain an important information medium for the end consumer. These tests usually focus on further safety-relevant product characteristics besides the EU standard qualifications for tyre labelling, which are always important for the final customer.

20.12.2021fromChris Driving with the NS-2's has been very enjoyable, I noticed a significant gain in grip in the dry compared to the landsails I previously had.
Driving in the wet is about average and the tyre performs similar to all season tyres with standing water.
Ice and snow have been a real weak point for this tyre, being a summer tyre this might be a bit obvious, however I was surprised at how easy traction is lost in these conditions.
Aggressive driving, the tyres are very confidence inspiring and handle twisty roads well, especially when warm. Any loss of grip (when pushing the tyre too far) is very predictable and progressive.
Please note that the Nankang NS-2 and the Nankang NS-2R are completely different beasts.
The NS-2 is a sporty summer tyre the NS-2R is an aggressive semi slick for serious track use
28.04.2020fromJack Thompson The cars not exactly fast or powerful but never had a problem with the tyres considering there slightly stretched
14.03.2020fromPaul laszlo My drive with these tyres is quite smooth but just a little noisy but the grip is excellent in both dry and wet weather especially cornering I am ver impressed.
01.12.2019fromTyreMan These are good in the dry but they struggle for grip even if it's just slightly damp.
The tyre model is a bit old now so they can be a bit noisy but for the money they are acceptable.
I could launch from Type R from a standstill in the dry without them slipping, I don't have an LSD either so they seem to perform well enough for a lower powered hot hatch (200hp)
