EU Tyre Label and Efficiency Classes
The European Union, under CE 1222/2009, has mandated that all tyres manufactured after the date of July 1 2012 for cars and commercial vehicles include standard EU Tyre Labels classifying them by three performance characteristics:fuel efficiency classified from A to G,wet grip classified from A to G, and noise emission in decibels.
Categories of tyres unaffected by this regulation include: retreaded tyres, professional off-road tyres, racing/sports car tyres, as well as certain types of tyres designed to improve traction such as studded tyres, T-type temporary spare tyres, tyres for cars built before 1990, tyres with a maximum allowed speed of 80km/h, tyres for rims with a diameter less or equal to 254 mm or greater or equal to 635 mm. This label is intended on one hand to promote economic and ecological efficiency in traffic, as well as increase road safety, and on the other hand to help consumers select appropriate tyres by ensuring a certain degree of product transparency.
Nevertheless, the label has been criticized for only showing a very limited number of characteristics. Professionals argue that tyres have many more features that are important and relevant to road safety, including but not limited to aquaplaning properties, driving stability, service life, product properties on wet and dry roads other than wet grip, properties on snow. Tyre manufacturers suggest that the test results from various institutions and industry magazines should remain a very important source of information for the end consumer, because they focus on and rate a wide variety of tyre properties and features.

22.06.2015fromStan The tread wear was poor after 6000 miles and I rotated them at 5,000 miles. I purchased a road hazard from tires easy.com too. The outside of the tire near the rim was torn and I got 2 flat tires...right fron and right rear on Wed, June 17th, 2015. I have pictures and I sent them to tires easy.com and still no response. I guess I have to call them as I had to get 2 other tires and they look about the same but were a bit more. For wear and tear...I would not recommend them.
19.12.2014fromMike Rampino I wanted some inexpensive tires so I could test the wear when my Cayene was lowered. I bought these because you can't usually touch the 19 tires for under $300 a piece. I figured that I'd be unhappy with them but I could deal for a while. Well! I have to say that I am truly impressed with the performance of these tires. I still swing my 5000lb beast around hairpins without a second thought. They are not to hard and not to soft. Perfect for all around driving. I live in NH so I did put snow tires on for the winter but I did get a chance to use these in the snow. They were just as good as any other all season tires are in the snow. I did punch a hole through one of the sidewalls recently when I hit a sharp curb pulling into a parking spot ( truly embarrassing as I have never done this in my 30 years of driving). I think I would have torn the sidewall of any tire but it did seem that these were a bit thin. For under a $100, I had another tire ordered from tires-easy.com before the tow truck even arrived. People may hesitate buying a v rated tire over a z but seriously? The v is rated to 150mph; after that you are taking your life in your hands one way or another. Bottom line is that these tires perform and look like the more expensive tires. I am happy with them.
