I didn't expect these tyres to be quite as good as they are. My car is quite torquey, but even on compacted snow, I didn't suffer any accidental wheelspin. On clean but very cold roads I was still able to accelerate "enthusiastically" without drama. There was another plus-point ... they are noticeably quieter than my Michelin PS4s summer tyres. Turn-in feels somehow softer, but I did not notice any actual understeer. I think I could run these tyres all year-round (UK) if I had to. In fact, I've heard that some people do. The only downsides were the availability - it took a few weeks to find a whole set and get them to my tyre fitter, and price - the best part of £1600 for the set. Nest time I need winters tyres, I will make sure I order them in October instead of December because there was very little choice of suitable premium winter tyres available - I wanted the latest sottozeros, but I simply could not find a complete set anywhere. However, I will happily continue to use these ones when the cold comes back.

I rated these tires last year and I am now on the second winter. I was not happy having to remount these knowing how disappointing they were. Now that we are through winter, I notice that they are wearing heavily too. These tires are so bad, I had to find my old review and give an update. After 2 Quebec winters, here is the summary: Mounted on a 2011 A4 Quattro Very prone to spin due to the close tread pattern and rounded edges Understeers in any depth of snow (I already hit a curb and caused $4K damage) Did not notice great Ice grip Noisy Wear like butter (2x5k and reaching the wear bars) Asymetric tread means one side of the tire is pumping water outwards and the other is pumping water inwards My FWD passat with Goodyear Nordic tires grip, steer, stop, and track better than these at 1/5 the price. I cannot believe these are being made let alone recommended.

Not a great winter tire. We have these mounted on a 2011 A4 Quattro. We live in Montreal and have had 3-4 feet of snow this year. I immediately noticed that these were very prone to spin and understeer in any depth of snow due to the close tread pattern and rounded edges. Ice grip is not great either. I already hit a curb and broke a rim. Our 2003 A4 Quattro had Pirelli Winter Carving - type tires and they stuck like staples. My FWD passat with Goodyear Nordic tires grip, steer, stop, and track better than these at 1/5 the price. Same noise level as well so no benefit there. Also, the Asymetric tread means one side is pumping water away from the center of the tire and the other is pumping water inwards if they are mounted in a mirror. Not recommended at all.
